To understand even just one life, you have to swallow the whole world. i told you that
ideologies separate us. Dreams and anguish bring us together.
Birds sing after a storm. Why shouldn’t people feel as free to delight in whatever sunlight remains to them?
i sit and meditate on words and phrases. on music, on art. on all the things that really inspire me to take a look around and see the connections between myself and my family, friends, neighbors, artists, town, state, country, world, history, past. between complete strangers, and the beautiful change that happens when those people become adored. i may never meet them. i may never see them. we may not even be a product of the same generation. but one thing is, we are a product of one overarching world.
You and i, now: it’s everything that’s connected and beautiful.

Robert Rauschenberg, Erased De Kooning Drawing, 1953
“I knocked on his door,
said I’d like to erase one of his drawings.
He said he wasn’t going to make it easy for me.
And he didn’t.
Spent 4 weeks erasing that drawing,
15 different types of erasers..
And
there’s a drawing on the other side”-Rauschenberg.
